Chrysler ‘UX’ of the 1960s

This one is just for fun!

Chrysler Corporation was a highly innovative design company in the late 1950s and through the mid 1960s. Here, for your pleasure, are a few of the many interesting dashboard designs they developed.

Note how the designers approached the dashboard with real imagination and unbridled enthusiasm to create Beauty!

I must admit having a soft spot for the push-button automatic gearbox and oval steering wheel they featured on many models. (My family had a ’63 New Yorker.)

Some of the innovations shown:

  • Oval steering wheel (to better see through)
  • Electroluminescent display
  • Pushbutton gears
  • Highly symmetrical designs (climate control buttons on right side echo gear selectors on left)
